The youth centre is a project of Family health OptionsKenya (FHOK). The Youth project was started in 1977 when the association recognized the necessity to address the sexual and reproductive health needs of young people. The Youth centre was established with the following objectives;

To;
· Respond to RH needs of the youth by developing and adopting appropriate and youth friendly IEC materials and strategies
· Develop an innovative model for youth friendly ASRH service delivery targeted at the youth (10-24 years)
· Influence public opinion and convince policy makers of the need to formulate and adopt youth policies and programmes to promote access to RH information and services.
· Advocate for gender equity and equality and eradication of harmful practices.
· Improve the social economic status of young Kenyan men and women.
· Empower young people through Life skills trainings to informed choices.
The Youth Centre works in the second largest informal settlement in Kenya . The geographical area of operation is demarcated into Four Divisions namely; Mathare, Kamukunji, Starehe and Makadara Divisions.
